The Alpine Beer Company is getting big. So big that the tiny, quaint pub that was the outlet for its beers for several years has move from beside the brewery on Alpine Blvd to a spacious new spot just down the road in the Alpine Creek Shopping Center.
The beers are still available at the brewery, by the taster, the growler and the 22oz bottle. But if you want a pint or two and tasty snacks like batter fried green beans, crispy fried pickles, or a rack of spare ribs you will need to go to the new 180 seat pub. And be prepared for a wait if you want to sample any of the fairly extensive menu. Since the pub moved at the beginning of June, 2015 the place has been packed.
The original pub, at the opposite end of the same building the houses the tiny brewery opened in early 2010. But its 36 seats just weren’t doing the job. So Alpine took the plunge and opened the new location. As well as Alpine’s own beers like ‘Pure Hoppiness’ and the wonderful ‘Odin’s Raven’ stout, which is reminiscent of Bert Grant’s “Old Rasputin’, the pub serves favorites from other San Diego Breweries. Call ahead to find out what is on tap on any given day. It changes.
